About Me

I was born in London, Ontario and moved around growing up, living in Milton, Winnipeg and Ottawa before settling in Calgary. Home is very important to me and I love being with my family and friends and exploring around Alberta and the Rocky Mountains. My work is inspired by symbolism and the beauty of nature. I almost always use bold colours and figures, and I think my painting is a little bit childlike. My subject matters are diverse, ranging from the celestial and symbolic to nature and animals. I use oil, watercolour and acrylic.
Mythology, philosophy and environmentalism inspire my projects. I have three children, a cat and a great dane. When I am not painting I am usually teaching yoga, writing in my notebooks or adventuring out in the mountains.

My Story
I never took the art classes in school. I leaned towards math and science because I liked feeling that I could control getting the answers 'right', subjective marking made me uncomfortable and I was motivated to have good grades. In University I let some of that go, studying Journalism Arts at Carleton University and Communications at the University of Calgary.

I started trying to draw and paint in my mid-twenties, and now I can't stop. I'm completely self taught, I definitely have no idea if I am doing things 'properly' or if anything I create makes any sense to anyone.

Journalism, research and writing are still important to me and I published my handwritting notebooks on Amazon, and a textbook on yoga.

I hope you enjoy looking at my paintings and feel free to reach out via email or through my social media to connect.
